Shaped cards are fun to make and special to receive. Inspired by a card I saw in a magazine, I've created this woven basket card and I'm here with a tutorial for you.
Even though this fits in an A2 envelope, the card doesn't open. But I covered the back with patterned paper and you could write a personal note there, or enclose a written note.
Here are the directions for making the card.
Begin by stamping the Hardwood stamp onto Crisp Cantaloupe card stock with Whisper White Craft ink.
When the ink has dried, cut into 1/2" strips and weave them together to form a square about 3-1/2".
Next cut a square of card stock measuring 3-1/2" wide by 3-1/4" tall. At the bottom, measure 1/2" in from each side, and make a pencil mark. Draw from each side up to the top corners to form the angled sides.
Trim the sides to form the card base. Apply Sticky Strip to the edges and adhere the UNtrimmed woven square to the card base. Proceed to use a paper cutter or scoring blade to evenly trim the edges. You may need to use a few dabs glue to keep the woven strips in place.
For the topper, I used the Oval Die this way to cut a half oval of patterned paper.
I also used two Oval Collection dies to cut the handle out of Whisper White card stock. They are the two largest straight-edged dies in the collection.
You're ready to assemble and decorate your card. Wouldn't this be cute for a birthday or Mother's Day as well, or even a gift tag? Hope you've been inspired!
I'll be back Monday with more to share.
