Rockin' Razzleberry

It's Monday, and that means I've got a clean and simple card for you! This weeks challenge at the Clean and Simple Cards Challenge at SCS is a theme challenge: rock and roll.  I have to say that for me, this was also a very limited supply challenge as I had NO stamps to go with this theme.

I even made a very cute card with the "Rockin' Robin" theme but it turned out to be not so clean or simple! I broke down and bought a stamp at my LCS.  Here's my card!

 

 The sentiment from Word Play takes center stage on this card with bold colors and bold lines. I did emboss the sentiment for emphasis and colored my silver brads with a black sharpie. Necessity is the mother of invention, ha! 

The guitar image is cut out and popped up, and the whole panel is also on foam dots for added dimension.

I don't send too many teenage-type cards but this is a card I think would work for a birthday, congratulations, or even a graduation.

I have a surprise for you! I am featuring my special Guest designer JudyG today. Judy is a great designer, longtime stamper; wonderful, loving ACTIVE grandmother and lots of fun to be with!  Recently I taught the double-pocket card and challenged the ladies to come up with their own design for the next month. Here's what Judy came up with:

 Isn't it amazing and so cute? In the bottom there's a gift card for a bookstore and I love the way she used a bookmark in the top pocket.

For another challenge, Judy made this sweet card using the Build A Bear products. Judy has twin grandchildren, a girl and a boy - isn't this a perfect card for them?

Judy, thanks for inspiring me with your work and always cheering with your smiles and laughter.

Ready to Sale-A-Brate?

I had my stamping club here recently and they were ready to Sale-A-Brate! For those of you not familiar with Stampin' Up!'s biggest promotion of the year, during Sale-A-Bration for every $50 you spend you earn free supplies! (For details, read on HERE.)  We had a great time stamping, laughing and playing with products from the Occasions mini.

When I designed our project, I wanted to go all out using the Sew Suite set and accessories. For this event I was asked to highlight some of the other materials that you can use in the Big Shot, so I began with cork in mind. Cork lends itself so well to the Sew suite accessories because it's the perfect landing strip for a straight pin. Well, maybe a picture will help show you what I mean.

Tah-dah!

The strip of cork and Sweet Stitches Designer Series Paper were run through the Tasteful Trim Die, one of my favorite accessories. The pin holds a Tiny Tag and a bit of pompom trim.The Sweet Buttons Embosslit provides buttons that are rich in detail and texture, and you can make them any color you want. That's fun!

I wanted to show that the Sew Suite set does not have to rely on certain words, or be intended for someone who sews - it can be a backdrop for so many other messages as in this case, a valentine or note for a friend.

To round out make and takes, we also made THIS card to show the use of metal foil on our cards. Most fun of all were the favors that I made them using heart lollipops and the Fun Flower Die. I wish you could have come!

Flourishes, part two

Hi there! I'm happy to be back again with another card using flourishes.

This time I cut out the flourish from the Elements of style set, and wrapped it through a frame made with the Lots of Tags die.

Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla are soft colors that lend a romantic feel to this card.I loved decking it out with Basic pearls and Vanilla Seam Binding.

It wasn't too hard to do the intricate cutting of the flourish. I used my Craft & Rubber Scissors, believe it or not, that's what I prefer to use for fussy cuts. The key is to move the tips of the scissors around the paper for the rounded edges

My stamp club ladies were here tonight (I am setting it to post ahead) and we laughed and had such a good time but I'll keep this short and sweet because about now my brain is almost asleep. The rest of me is surely soon to follow the same path.

Poppy with Pizzazz

Hi and happy Monday!

Time for a Clean and Simple Card for this week's challenge which is Ways to Use it: Flourishes. I made two cards for this challenge, this one uses one of my favorite color combinations Pear Pizzazz and Poppy Parade. I added a hint of black for contrast.

I think these colors look classy together, especially paired with the elegant flourish from the single stamp called Elizabeth. I kept my card very simple with clean lines which is not only a beautiful stye but very quick to make!

I distressed the focal image by masking the oval and adding a few splotches of color with the Color Spritzer Tool; I like the way the tiny dots create a feeling of movement. The butterflies are layered and decked with rhinestones. I created the curved border on the bottom by using the Fancy Favor box die, and laying the card stock OFF the edge when running it through the Big Shot. I've been wanting to try this, and I love having another border alternative.

I made this card to be a Valentine but with the un-traditional colors I think it would work for other occasions too.

Snugglebeagle

I realize that it's been quite awhile since I've posted about Josie, but I have a photo for you today of our puppy, aka Superdog!

She had a fabulous time with me at dog training today, and everyone was very amazed at how fast she learns. She knows all her basic commands now, goes to her bed on command and stays there, jumps to give me a high five, and today learned the tunnel and A frame agility equipment. It was so exciting that after three walk throughs, she would dash through the tunnel on command and meet me at the other end. Now you know why she is so still and snuggly in this picture - exhaustion! A few minutes later, she was asleep.

We have finally found out how much this little girl needs to work, both physically and mentally. The result is great bonding. Just thought you'd like to know!

So if you've been wondering where I've been, it's out in the yard, or in the car, or at dog training class and private sessions, or walking at the park. I am trying to find the right balance.

For those of you waiting for a card, next week should be better. I will be preparing this weekend for my stamping club, and I can't wait to see everyone. Have a good weekend!

I can't stop laughing!

Every title I come up with for today's card has set me to chuckling. Things like "Ooh-la-la love" or "What a Pair!" or even "Wonderful Couple" seem fitting if you don't read too much into it!

OK, I'll try to settle down because I do know one thing about today's card: You're going to love it!

You ask me how I know? Because I love it~it's elegant and SO FUN! Have a look:

I saw this technique on a fabulous blog by Valita in Australia, and knew I had to try it. Thanks to Valita's wonderful and thorough video tutorial, everyone can learn this technique. (Click HERE to view.)  This card is so much fun to make using punches and shading to create the clothing. As a backdrop I die cut the Lattice Die using a sheet of metal similar to thick aluminum foil. I have wanted to experiment with using other materials in the Big Shot, and I love the result!

This will be the Valentine for my dear husband. I don't think he'll mind if I show you the inside view. In all seriousness, these words convey how I really feel. Blessed, indeed.

Layer upon layer, line upon line....

It's a bit of a dreary afternoon here, but I'm glad to have a few minutes to sit down at the computer and gather my thoughts. I looked through my picture files and found some cards I've made with the Clearly for You stamp set from the Occasions Mini.

This set has fabulous images and so much potential, but you may have noticed that the images are small in size. My answer for working with that in this card is layer upon layer of designer paper for a unique shabby chic card.

The Botannical Gazzette Designer Series Paper is so much fun to work with, I love the possibilities! This card came together step by step as I explored the patterns and how I wanted to mix them for this layout. "For you" was stamped on Very Vanilla card stock and cut out. A Beveled Windowpane highlights the stamped image of the birds.

Simple Friendship

  Did you have a great weekend? I went to see the exhibit of illustrator Norman Rockwell this weekend, it was fabulous! His work is amazing. Besides the stories that he told with each painting, the details and textures were phenomenal. I could tell you about some of my favorites, but you came here to see a card so I'll just encourage you to see the exhibit if you get a chance. It is well worth it.

It's Monday and that means time for another Clean and Simple challenge. Today it is a sketch challenge based on the layout of this card of mine:

This layout is so versatile, this time I wanted a more elegant look, here's today's card.

 The Framed Tulips embossing folder adds delightful depth and elegance and makes this card look special even though it's very easy to make. Wishing you happy stamping!

Pretty please, Be My Valentine

 I have not really taken time to explore the Filled With Love set, until I sat down to make today's card and I have to say I LOVE it!

I dug into my stash of retired Sending Love Specialty Paper with the glittered floral pattern. My favorite part of the card was stamping the pattern from the large heart in pink and then stamping the sentiment on top for a tiny tag. The images work as perfect accents especially when paired with the Bitty Buttons.
