So Cute for a Little One

Yesterday I checked out the CASE Study Challenge where the muse for the month is fellow Dirty Girl, Julie Lacey. I LOVE her work and wanted to play along this week and make a card inspired by this gorgeous one of hers.

 

I took inspiration for my card from Julie's bold elements - images and sentiment text, and vivid colors. She combined a great mix of patterns and subtle backgrounds, and used a beautiful ribbon treatment. I did manage to get in polka dots too!

I also fit this card into the Color Combinations Challenge at SCS, and the lovely sketch by Anne Marie of The Paper Players. Whew!  I rarely try even two challenges together, but today I was on a roll and enjoyed multi-tasking.

Each element in the oval was stamped and cut out separately to make the little scene. Oh, except for the cluster of things on the wall - I stamped on white, cut them out as one, and colored them in using markers. The set is called Little Additions, and I love the creative options it offers.

Stocking Builder Punch again!

Here's another idea for using the Stocking Builder punch for a non-Christmas card. How about these sweet baby booties?

I took the layout for this tall card right out of the Holiday Mini, but changed the Christmas stocking to baby booties with just a snip!  I cut the tops of the punched booties and added glittered ruffles using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon punch and voila!  An easy card to weclome baby. Hope you like it!

The doily comes with the Flirtacious Specialty Designer Series Paper which includes 2 sheets of doiles in various sizes and the lovely patterns you see on my card. I think the floral pattern on the bootie really resembles something warm, soft and woven, don't you? You may check this great paper out at my online store HERE.

This card measures 3" x 6" and fits in the small open ended envelopes for mailing.

Simply Sweet

Hi all!

First I have to thank those of you who have e-mailed or commented on my post yesterday. I am really a 'people' person who has been misplaced behind a computer, and I thrive on your comments and answers to my questions! I've read every one and will respond soon, in the meantime if you're just visiting, feel free to jump in the conversation with your 2cents.

I just wanted to give you a quick head's up on what I'm busy with today - and it's exciting! Tonight is new catty Kick-Off Celebration and we'll be making two projects. Keeping them simple because of some other things that will be going at the party - don't want to give it all away! It's not too late if you live near Fayetteville NC to give me a call and come on by!

Both projects are CASES of cute and inspiring work I find online - yes, I do blog surf too! My guests will make a version of THIS adorable card card by Mindy highlighting the new set Pennant Parade and the new Petite Pennants Builder Punch.

I wanted each guest to go home with a sample of the In Colors, so THIS fabulous card by Margaret Moody caught my eye. I made a couple changes and here's my card.

From the Heart

Good morning and happy June 1! I'm writing this after being up since 4:30 AM this morning, so I'm warning you in case I get a bit punchy. As many of you know, today is the day that demonstrators get sneak peeks of the new Idea Book & Catalog and place orders. I got up early to place mine and now I'm feeling the effect of the lack of sleep but the excitement won't wear off for quite awhile. You'll see soon!

 I'm also happy to show you today's card using the Fifth Avenue Floral set.

 

The Neswprint DSP forms the background, it was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper folder and sponged to further distress. The ruffled edge of the red card stock dividing the panels was made by placing a narrow strip of CS on the Fancy Favor box die and running it through the Big Shot.

The sentiment is from the retired Watercolor Trio set and the Four Frames set adorns the label, bedecked with Basic Pearls, an Antique Brad and a key.

You know watercoloring is my chosen therapy and working on the details of this card was so relaxing! May be time for me to tak a nap. <g> I'd love to know what you think of today's creation, would you take time to let me know?

Welcome, baby!

 I was pretty busy over the weekend, but I had a little time to stamp last night. I needed a baby card, and the challenge at Our Creative Corner gave me the perfect chance to make one using these required items: the color kraft, ribbon or lace trim and at least one button.

 

I pulled out a little set to explore, which is appropriately named "So Cute." This little bunny just called my name! Don't you think he is so cute? The yellow squares of the the Nursery Suite Specialty DSP were stamped with the Postage Stamp Punch and matted with Whisper White card stock.

For the ruffled ribbon, I used Very Vanilla taffeta seam binding that I dyed with Regal Rose reinker to match the patterned paper. I added a pin from the Vintage Trinkets and a bit of Victoria Crochet Trim.

Speaking of Crochet Trim, I had a chance to use some on a pretty elaborate card that I'll post this week, here's a peek. I hope you'll check back to see it. :->

Baby Fresh for Spring

I was so inspired by the fresh springy colors used in the sewing kit on page 35 of the Occasions Mini that I just had to put together a card with my own take on it.

Knowing my color scheme of Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, and Daffodil Delight narrowed the choice to two patterns of the Sweet Stitches Designer Series Paper. I knew I wanted to use the Buttons, Buttons set and make a square card, but I was stumped for a little while about the images, until I pulled out my dear old Forest Friends to use again. I love that set and especially this deer image which is cut out and popped up.

Embellishments were easy. What else goes with the baby theme but rick rack from the Tasteful Trim die, a big satin bow, and a safety pin! I also die cut the white label using the Big Shot and the Scallop Rectangle Clearlit. The 'baby' is from the Tiny Tags set.

I love the Sew Suite collection, the accessories are fun and fresh. I hope you're realizing that it's not just for sewing!

The layout for this card is from the sketch at the weekly Stamping 411 Challenge. Trust me that my layers are centered, it's the perspective of the camera shot from the side.  :->

Lots of Wheel Potential

Sometimes I forget to pull out my Stampin' Around wheels and actually use them because I like the clean look, I don't really do too many backgrounds. But when I saw the Baby Tees Wheel, I knew the images would be perfect to stamp and cut out for darling baby cards.

Here is one that I made during my tenure on the Dirty Dozen Design Team at Splitcoaststampers as part of the Simply Inviting Gallery.

I've always LOVED baby clothes, and dressing up these cute tees was a ton of fun. I embossed them in white and added details with my markers. The colors of Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz and Tangerine Tango came right out of the catalog. I added Bitty Buttons and the matching punches to make the border on the sentiment.

I'm not sure if you can tell that the base of the card was embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots folder.

I'ts bright and sunny here today, so I thought you'd like a card with similar mood. I'm off to play!

   PS.  For those of you wanting news of Josie: our fur baby Josie (a beagle) is growing up, she's now 6 months old. We have found a terrific trainer, who also happens to choose/hire dogs to be in commercials. She wants Josie to do that!  So we've been having fun with training, especially today when Josie learned the "CATCH!" command with popcorn. I'd say she got that one down (plus a bunch of the buttery white stuff!) right away.

I'm also happy that she is more manageable on the leash now, and we can actually begin taking Josie on walks to burn off some of her energy.

A Baby is a Gift

We went out to a dinner party at friends the other night, and I got to hold 'the baby' it was a sweet job!!  Although others stood in cozy conversational groups,I didn't feel as if I missed a thing with baby on my lap. In fact, my rendition of singing "Shoe the wee horsy, shoe the wee mare, but let the little ponies go bare" complete with a little toe tickling brought squeals of delight to her <G> It's so easy to make a baby smile...Sure made me smile too!

Here's a baby favor I made for the Dirty Dozen Fan Club Gallery that I thought was just perfect for a boy and it's so, so easy to make using the Milk Box Die and the Big Shot.

Want some news of the baby in our house?  Many of you remember when I first shared about our beagle puppy Josie a few weeks ago (on THIS POST). She is now past 12 weeks old and is turning into quite a nice girl! She even sat still for me to take this pic, and I thought you'd like seeing how she's grown! Her fur is turning tan around her head and the tops of her legs. I can't wait until she is just a bit older (and has completed her shots) and we can go to puppy classes.

Still not much time for stamping these days, but babies don't stay little forever, right? And my stampin' time starts right NOW! (she says as phone rings...)   *sigh**

Three for you!

We brought our new puppy Josie home yesterday, after a few hours drive home from the breeder. She's a super sweet fur-wrapped fireball! I think the first night with a new puppy is sometimes a rough ride, but we have survived (sleeping only a couple of 2 hr stints at a time!) and she is presently sound asleep in her crate. I'll post some photos as soon as I can get a handle on my camera and puppy management schedule while managing to keep my eyes open.

I am both sleep and stamping deprived but I have two more cards from the Bold, Masculine, and Dirty Gallery at Splitcoaststampers. One of the retiring In Colors that I'm really going to miss is Bermuda Bay, featured in both cards.

The Extreme Skateboarder card has some fun splotches of color made with the Color Spritzer tool, a must for this distressed look.

For the Medallion birthday card, piercing , metal brads, and sponging are used to add a more masculine element. Texture is added by popping up the layers in the center of the Medallion.

Lastly, here's a Baby Shower Favor made with the Milk Box die.

Sweet Baby

Happy April first! Oh, I'm so happy that it's a new day, a new month, and I feel like a NEW person now that the big projects I've been working on are wrapped up and ready. After I take the package to mail today, I will give a shout!!!  Then head to football practice with my son and out to dinner with my dear husband to celebrate.

I have needed some baby girl cards for my stash, so I made one using the Fox and Friends set and the Solid Stripe stamp.

 

I think the Scallop Square Die is a must to make really cute square cards like this one. I really like all the elements in this card and how they work together. It was fun to make.

Speaking of new, I have NEW stamping stuff coming on Monday, and I'll be able to stamp just for the fun of it. That means more posts for you!

As Easter approaches, I will be reflecting on my Redeemer who ransomed His life for me. For those of you who celebrate, wishing you many blessings.
