Stamps, Paper, and Ink

Hello Baby!

I've posted quite a few holiday projects lately and today I found it so refreshing to make this baby card. Best thing is, it will be in the mailbox tomorrow for a special young couple who just had their fourth girl. 

I remembered the Beary Best Friends set and the darling dress for the girl bear. I watercolored the dresses using my Aqua Painter and reinkers, cut them out and used them for this cute card. Who says you need a baby set?

 

I love the kraft and retro feel of these colors!  I was totally inspired by the Sweet Sunday Sketch by Karen Giron for the layout. I love her sketches!

Hello Baby

YaaaY for me! After six hours of PUTTING STUFF AWAY my stamping space is finally more organized again. YAY for me!  That means I could make a card. :D  Hope your Friday is giving you something to cheer about!

This card will welcome a friend's baby boy. My go-to for babies is this giraffe from the retired Bundle of Joy set. The front of the card has a heart punched out - I got to use my new Punch Windows for the Movers and Shapers Die from Stampin' Up! that lets me punch this shape anywhere I want on the card front. The sentiment is a sneak peek from a brand new catty set called Teeny Tiny Wishes.

I love the paper-piecing technique and was happy to use up some of my designer paper scraps! Here's the inside of the card~

Spell it out, BABY!

 

Here's one of my favorites of this month's creations. A few of my best cards made their way to Stampin' Up! as entries in the contests for January. I am pleased with how this turned out all around! I loved using the die cut letters from the Serifs Essentials Alphabet in my favorite sweet Georgia Peach designer paper. I held off ordering this alpha, but I can tell you I am so happy with it!  Such a dream to cut and use these letters.  No more agonizing over lining up and stamping letters to make a word. Hope you like it too, have a great day!

Krafty baby

I have had fun making a couple of one layer cards, here's the first for you today! I have forgotten how much fun these are but it's not always easy getting the right balance. This card was an experiment from the beginning! this stamp sits as a decoration on top of my bookshelves - but I have never stamped with it! I decided it was perfect for a one layer card.  Pastels are often not used in my book, so they were the choice of coloring medium.  I put layers of white and touches of color on top.  The ribbon and buttons add to the homespun look. The part I like best is that I think this could be for a sweet little girl or boy and it's ready to go!
I'm ready to go too, off with my 16 yr. old not-little-at-all son to his football game. If they win today, they get to play in the championships!

PS. For those who have been missing Emily lately - I miss her too - she's been one very busy gal. She looks forward to posting some day when she gets time to catch her breath and make a card. :)

Happiness Always for Baby

I think these are the perfect colors for a baby girl!  I made this card for the FS89 challenge and CASE'd this card of Emily's. I changed the set, colors and patterns and added a few layers. So much fun to peruse Emily's gallery of great cards.

All my layers are popped up on dimensionals. I see from this photo that I need to tuck down the bottom right corner. :) Rest assured, I will do that. I also put a white card stock square behind the DP to help support the images.

Onesies and Twosies....

At my house we take a common expression and change the meaning to something we all understand from our experience. Today is a snow day here.  But those of you in the sand hills of North Carolina know that we are one spot on the east coast that has definitely NOT experienced snow today!  So, let me explain the meaning.  A snow day is when you are expecting to go to school or to work, and the plans suddenly change. Usually the change is a delight, but in my case, the snow and ice storm have postponed my travel plans to fly to visit my Mom today.  My Mom does understand and she wisely said, "It's best to let God make our plans."

Well, to look on the bright side, I am here to chat with you instead of being stuck in an airport!

Here's the happy project  - pink and blue onesies. They  were so much fun to make and so simple too!  Especially when Lauren Meader shows how easy it is to use the 1-3/8" circle and the scallop punch to form the neck and leg openings. For the girl onesie I used my SU! markers and the So Many Scallops Sale-A-Bration set.  I used the Just Because set for the bashful blue onesie.  Silver eyelets, sponging and piercing added a more boyish look.
