Bordering on Romance Birthday

 The Bordering on Romance stamp set is a dream to color and embellish! Yesterday I got some time to play and highlight this set for today's card.

I chose my colors based on the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper and watercolored using an Aqua Painter and inks from my stamp pad lids. A rhinestone gem adds bling to the flower centers.

The fab layout from iSPY Sketches was so versatile and could be left simple or embellished with interesting accents. Check by the site to see gorgeous samples from the Special Agents (DT).

The Adorning Accents Edgelits die created the scalloped border in Baja Breeze which layers so nicely over the pleated ribbon.

Twitterpated and Freshly Made

I'm exhausted after the wedding! It was a fabulous celebration!

After all the excitement and travel, I'm twitterpated to even think of making a card today. But that's what I did and now I'm under the wire to post it in time to be shared on this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Wondering all the while if I wouldn't have been better off taking a nap. Hope you like it!

I used the Bordering on Romance set, keeping the hues monochromatic for an elegant look that's really easy. I embossed the image in Cherry Cobbler, and used markers to highlight in Blushing Bride. I love the sweet patterns and colors of the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper and dressed it up with other product in that collection (you can never go wrong with pleated ribbon!) The Adorning Accents Edgelits provide a feminine border.

Boutique Birthday - sneak peek!

 Hi there!

I did get a chance to break into my new Occasions Mini supplies a few days ago and I decided to just PLAY! I'm happy to give you a sneak peek of what's fresh, new and coming soon!

Instead of beginning with a sketch or specific theme, I began with a fun product in a new color - Smooch Spritz spray in Blushing Bride. I got it right out and spritzed away on Very Vanilla card stock. I liked the soft spattered background so much that it became the basis for my whole card. What looks like pink card stock in this close up is actually the Very Vanilla cs with sparkly Smooch Spritz sheen!

The sentiment and flourish image (stamped in Riding Hood Red) are from a darling new stamp set called Elementary Elegance which will be available during Sale-A-Bration. Then I used the Framelits Labels metal die to cut the panel. The sentiment on Very Vanilla was punched with the Curly Label Punch and pairs perfectly with the image.

I LOVE the new Attic Boutique DSP!!! It is so gorgeous I had to use it as soon as I opened the pack. Each pattern is beautiful but this one is my favorite. A few pearls and Riding Hood Red Pleated Ribbon wrap this up in classy style.

A little bird-day cheer!

I have just a quick post to share and I'm really tired as I write this late in the evening, so I'll try not to get too punchy. Or make corny jokes. Or chatter away....

It's a nice kind of tired though, I had a lovely day spent with my dear friend. We went out to lunch and shopping - can't beat that unless we're adding in some stamping too!

Today's card was made for her in honor of her birthday. You should see the go-jus card she made for me, and it's not even my birthday!

I thought the Sweetest Sunday Sketch this week was fabulous and so fun I just had to try it. My strips were cut at 1-5/8" wide, but I had to juggle them a bit to make sure they covered the card from top to bottom.

It took me forever to decide which DP to use, and then it took forever to choose the best patterns to work with. But this is a layout I'd love to use again, and I'm very happy with the way the card turned out.

Big Top Birthday

Hi everybody! It's good to be back! I've walked the dog, said goodby to my family and snuggled here in my craft room to soak up the quiet, think some of my own thoughts, do a little computer business and stamp!

I don't usually make children's birthday cards, but when I saw the Big Top Designer Papers I couldn't resist making some fun cards with it. Especially since the The Paper Players  are posting a Birthday challenge for this week.

I began by wanting to use the banner image from the Patterned Party stamp set. After playing a bit, I decided it really does show up best if cut out. I was planning on using a small pattern of the paper but when I turned it over to this scene, my card came together quickly.

Like the strong man I wanted to say a "Ta-dah!" with a drumroll in the background. Sometimes simple really is best and in this case, the cute design of the DP made it so easy to create a cute card. Give this a try today!

Happy Birthday Wishes

Happy Monday! I have something special for you today, it's a Birthday Blog Hop for Lesley Croghan, of The Paper Players!

 

I am happy to join in the chorus with those wishing Lesley the happiest of birthdays today! The sentiment from the Petite Pairs stamp set sums up how I feel about Lesley. Here's the card I made just for this occasion.

The color combo of Calypso Coral, Riding Hood Red, and Basic Gray came from the Color Coach. The Creative Elements set is one that I love, and I think it will soon become my go-to set.  I stamped the floral background and used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig for positioning the images.

Simply Sweet

Hi all!

First I have to thank those of you who have e-mailed or commented on my post yesterday. I am really a 'people' person who has been misplaced behind a computer, and I thrive on your comments and answers to my questions! I've read every one and will respond soon, in the meantime if you're just visiting, feel free to jump in the conversation with your 2cents.

I just wanted to give you a quick head's up on what I'm busy with today - and it's exciting! Tonight is new catty Kick-Off Celebration and we'll be making two projects. Keeping them simple because of some other things that will be going at the party - don't want to give it all away! It's not too late if you live near Fayetteville NC to give me a call and come on by!

Both projects are CASES of cute and inspiring work I find online - yes, I do blog surf too! My guests will make a version of THIS adorable card card by Mindy highlighting the new set Pennant Parade and the new Petite Pennants Builder Punch.

I wanted each guest to go home with a sample of the In Colors, so THIS fabulous card by Margaret Moody caught my eye. I made a couple changes and here's my card.

Do you ever want to make something just for the fun of it? I saw this card on Vicki's blog, and just had to make my own. It was so much fun pulling out my owl punch and a retiring hostess set and using it for a card that anyone would love.

Does this want to make you smile, or what!?

The Birthday Bakery set has adorable cake images which I have used often (you can see one here) but I had never used this bag image until today. My local stampers are always looking for ways to use the punches they have, so I'll be sharing this idea with them for sure.

Here's how I decorated the inside:

 
The DSP is Just Add Cake from the new catalog. Are you counting the days until July 1 when we can begin to order? I sure am! You need to have this DP on your list, it's so cute and the colors are perfect for guy or girl projects. One of the patterns has letters which I punched out to spell "happy."

Flirtatious Birthday Wishes

I've been MIA for a few days and didn't really mean to be, but you see it was my birthday yesterday. I've had some wonderful times sharing with my husband, family, and a special friends for the last week or two. It was a refreshing break and so good to remind myself that crafting has to flow from joy inside me and not just the same rote compulsion I apply to my daily to-do list!

With all that said, my card for today didn't turn out exactly as I'd hoped and then I had a hard time with the photo. I was playing with the Flirtatious Specialty Paper (coming soon!) and the MOJO 195 sketch.

 

  I LOVED the sketch and the Flirtatious paper, which has pretty patterns that I used here, plus 2 sheets of doilies in white, Melon Mambo and I used the Pumpkin Pie one here. A strip from the Tasteful Trim die adds the border of scallops. The decision to use a Pumpkin Pie doily and ribbon came after trying white and pink and deciding they were just way too predictable. I mean the pumpkin is featured in the DSP, so it should work, right? Well, now I'm not so sure, what do you think?

That's the fun of playing with Stamps, Paper, and Ink - I can do a redo or just plain start over and get a completely different result 'cuz it's just paper! Plus a few embellishments I'll list for you in the supplies.
