Stamps, Paper, and Ink

Simply Sweet

Hi all!

First I have to thank those of you who have e-mailed or commented on my post yesterday. I am really a 'people' person who has been misplaced behind a computer, and I thrive on your comments and answers to my questions! I've read every one and will respond soon, in the meantime if you're just visiting, feel free to jump in the conversation with your 2cents.

I just wanted to give you a quick head's up on what I'm busy with today - and it's exciting! Tonight is new catty Kick-Off Celebration and we'll be making two projects. Keeping them simple because of some other things that will be going at the party - don't want to give it all away! It's not too late if you live near Fayetteville NC to give me a call and come on by!

Both projects are CASES of cute and inspiring work I find online - yes, I do blog surf too! My guests will make a version of THIS adorable card card by Mindy highlighting the new set Pennant Parade and the new Petite Pennants Builder Punch.

I wanted each guest to go home with a sample of the In Colors, so THIS fabulous card by Margaret Moody caught my eye. I made a couple changes and here's my card.

Cupcake fun!

Here's a card with some real color punch, hope you've got your shades handy! Time for some more cupcake fun!

I am playing around with the Create A Cupcake set to prepare for my upcoming class. The sketch challenge at The Paper Players was my starting point and seemed the perfect backdrop to add a pennant. I kept this clean, simple to mass produce, and bright!

It is really not as bright as it looks - I used Pumpkin Pie card stock that's not nearly as intense IRL as what the photo depicts.

Joy at Christmas

I hope yesterday's post about Josie made you chuckle. It made me chuckle to write it! Ruth Ann thinks I should tell Josie's side of the story, HA! That would be hilarious. I do want to reassure you that we love our little puppy!

I was pleased to get so much input and encouragement from your comments and I thank you for each and every one. I appreciate Gena C., who said "I'd like to see more of your class projects and techniques."  I will try to follow up on your suggestion, starting today!

One factor about my classes and workshops is that I often CASE the great projects I find online for those. Sometimes when I design I forget how to keep things simple and there are so many talented stampers who do that so well. I sometimes want to teach everything at one class and put way too much into an over the top card!

Here's the card we did recently for my Vintage Christmas class. See what you think. It's a simpler version of THIS card.

 The Joy sentiment from the Punched Perfect set fits the vintage style, especially when decked out with a seam binding bow knot and a Glitter Brad. I cut out a 2" circle for the mat.

The fabric was so easily cut with the Top Note Die and ironed onto the card stock using our Fabric Adhesive Roll. I love that stuff! Can't get enough of the Vintage look of the Christmas Collage and Deck the Halls DSP collection.

Distressing tip: Sponging Very Vanilla card stock with Crumb Cake ink adds a very very subtle aged look. For just a bit more depth of color, sponge with Soft Suede ink.

Watercolor tip: I used a very light wash of color for the holly and berries in the Christmas Collage image. It was stamped with Basic Brown ink (retired). You don't want to entirely fill in the images, just add a hint of color with deeper shading in the center on the leaves.

If you love this card, you'll be pleased to know that while it looks like it took hours to make, it can be made or relatively quickly and would be fairly flat to mail. Contact me if you'd like a list of supplies or would like to order what you need to make it.

Awash with Flowers

WELCOME to  a brand new week!

WOW! I took an unexpected week off from my blog and that is a rare thing.  Sorry to be MIA, life has been busy, and I also have had a few health issues going on, so I had 4 medical visits this week.  I will spare you the details except to say that I got almost NO stamping done and I really have missed it.

Here's the card we made at my stamping club last week using the Awash with Flowers set. Two step stamping is so easy and this set is fun and playful.

This beautiful card was designed by fellow demo Kay Kalthoff, who posted it on her blog "Stamping to Share".  We CASEd this card exactly, how can you beat something as pretty as this?!  Don't you love those flowers?

Emily took the packet and made her own version using the exact supplies -

 

Isn't it amazing how a few changes (and a talented artist :D) can make such a big difference? She stamped and trimmed the larger flower images, and turned the patterned paper to the other side.

I love this set, and when I get some stamping therapy time in ( don't you think I need it after all the Dr visits, LOL!) I will see what I can do with this set.

Branch Out and grow!

A really green tree in all its greenery is a sure sign of spring. Bet you've never seen a really green tree trunk until now! I was having all kinds of fun with the Branch Out stamp set. It began by wanting to use this color combo, and I just did not want to add brown to these soft hues - so I took some creative license and made the tree green.

I think it turned out OK, and I really love this set!  This is the card we made at our club meeting this month. I can't wait to try some of the other cute images. Just remember that if you try an idea  outside the box, that's the fun of creating with paper.  You're the artist!

A Valentine for Snow day!

Oh, the fun of a snow day! It's rare in this part of NC, but we so loved waking up to see all the white stuff. As a homeschooling family, we always took the day off to play in the snow whenever we got the chance. No work or college classes today, so a few of us are enjoying sitting around at home together.

I designed this card for my next hostess club party - it was supposed to be tonight, but probably will be postponed. Thought you'd enjoy getting to have a peek at the cute pocket card we'll be making. I love pocket cards, and they could not be any easier than this one done with the Top Note die and the Big Shot.
