Stamps, Paper, and Ink

So long, farewell....

Auf wiedersehen, goodbye! Sure hope you have enjoyed this month of goodbyes from the Stamp Something design team.  This is my last week to post samples and we are honoring Emily this week with one of her fabulous sketches! You may choose to use any of the sketches she previously designed for the challenges, or this one especially for this week. You can never go wrong in making a great card when you start with a fabulous sketch! Emily's wonderful work is proof of that!

I wanted to use bold images and bright colors - similar to Emily's trendy style - and highlight her sketch as much as possible in my card. Here it is!

I kept the layers pretty simple and I love how the tied ribbon/button treatment turned out.

The sentiment is my wish for Denise and Erin ~ thanks so much for the opportunity you gave me to create with you and these talented stampers! I so appreciate your kindness, dedication and faithfulness in providing terrific challenges for us week after week. Wishing you the best always, and looking forward to visiting often. :D

A Something Pink Birthday

That's the challenge at Stamp Something for today, and it is a special one! We are honoring my dear DT friend, Melissa, who is also rotating off the team. You will want to check out her blog and leave her some love, she will surely be missed. I love Melissa's style, she uses bold, clean lines to make elegant cards. She's passionate about pink! Join us for the challenge by making a little something pink for a birthday.

My card is clean and simple with a hint of pink. Super quick to make! That's what I needed today, my other stamping projects are finished and ready to mail, YAAY! This card is also for two SCS challenges, Clean and Simple 13 (thanks for a great sketch!)  and Ways to Use It 217 (kraft.)

PS. Don't know if it's the colors or the fact that I dropped my camera yesterday - but this is as good a photo as I  can get. I guess we'll find out about the camera over the next few posts. <blush> Any suggestions?

Something Sweet, Something Bittersweet, and Something FREE

Happy first day of May! Can't believe it's May already! Do you know what else I can't believe? It's been a year since I became part of the fabulous team at Stamp Something, and that means later this month it will be time for me to move on. It has been such a joy for me to work with Denise, Erin and the wonderful gals on the Design Team. I have enjoyed every minute! Fridays won't seem quite the same. I am grateful to all of you and I will really miss the challenges!  Now you know the bittersweet part of this post.

The sweet part is my card for Mother, made with the Eastern Blooms set and the Georgia Peach Designer Paper. The colors in these patterns are super sweet to me! Normally I would watercolor these, but stamping the flowers on DP made this a quicker card and I love the look too. I like detailed cutting almost as much as I like to watercolor - they both involve a process that takes some patience. The slower work relaxes me. Ah, back to the card. Adding glitter to the flowers makes them sparkle.

Now, about the challenge. You are supposed to Stamp Something for Mother and the second part is - CASE one of my cards! Sweet Stems - Dressed for Spring

It's Friday, time for the Stamp Something challenge!  The Sweet Stems stamp set rises to the color challenge to Stamp Something in yellow, green and blue. This is a  wonderful combo to dress any card in, especially perfect for spring!

We are being hosted today by Cutting Cafe and you'll love seeing the awesome projects of the DT with these colors. Give the challenge a try and join the fun!

I wanted a clean and simple card, and this one came together in less than 30 minutes start to finish. Using the stems without coloring them in made it easy. I stamped the scalloped oval out of the white panel to reveal the So Saffron piece. I added a bit of sponging to the small oval, and popped it up.

Clean and simple is so refreshing. Sometimes I think every card needs a different layout or special touch. Reinventing the wheel takes a long time and doesn't always produce a better result. I need to remember to go back to some of my own favorites and use the layouts again. Do you have a favorite go-to layout? It is amazing how many options there are with stamps, paper and accessories - that's why I love cardmaking!

Hello Peeps!

Hello and Happy Friday! This week at Stamp Something the challenge is a fantastic sketch by our very talented Emily, and you won't want to miss playing along. We are happy to have Layers of Color as our sponsor ~ check it out and join the fun :D

Here's the lovely sketch...

and here's my card! When I was finished I found the tiny strip of card stock that was already curled like a corkscrew. (I use the Perfect layers tool for ALL mats, and the strip was shaved off with a blade.)  You know what it reminded me of?  A scrap for a bird's nest :D  Yep, the button was torn off ever so carefully so that the curly strip could be added with a bit of linen thread.

A few of my favorite things...

Sing with me now, "These are a few of my favorite things...."  A great idea for a challenge today at the Stamp Something blog.  Those of you who have been with me KNOW that the Pretties kit is one of my favorite things. Here are a few more: the Bella's Blooms set, flowers, elegance, and even ~ only if I'm in the mood ~ pink! Another favorite thing I love to do with my cards is use a generic greeting. This way I can add it to my stash and pull it out when I need it and finish the thought inside. Warm wishes could be a wedding, birthday, or anniversary card. Do you suppose it could also be a get well card?
The Pink Pirouette and Bordering Blue with a hint of So Saffron in the Bella's Birds Designer Series Paper calls to mind another favorite of mine. I have a very well loved quilt which my girls and I made - and it goes wherever I go. I love the cozy feel of a quilt or a Grandma's hug - and this card reminds me of both!

Snow Something

For today's blog challenge I wanted to Stamp Something for winter, cold, or wind.   Creating a wintry card with the Branch Out set was easy peasy. Photographing these cool colors was not!  I could not get anything like the true colors, even after several takes on the photo and editing.

I used an Almost Amethyst card base, the amethyst patterned paper from the Tea Party designer series, whisper white and a touch of bashful blue in the ribbon and the snowflakes.  Can you make out the bit of sparkle on the flakes and the Urban West rub-ons along the bottom? The bird house was stamped in Brocade Blue, and stands alone on the tree as a sign of hope. Spring is on the way!

The Lord's song

Quick, quick post today to show you what I made using the Friends 24-7 set, and the Pink Flamingo DP. Besides pinks and red in the papers there's this yummy bright sunshine yellow floral! I was so inspired by my Emily to use these colors, so I made something just for me, just for fun! And it happens to fit in with the 3D Challenge at the Stamp Something blog. Sorry that I could not get a better photo to show the true zing in these colors.

I love having Scriptures that remind me of God's love in my home and it is so easy to combine a few stamped images and make framed art  of your own.  Try It!

Valentine's Something - A big Heart

Our challenge today is to Stamp Something for Valentine's! I can't wait to see what the design team comes up with - I always love seeing everyone's artistic expression on the same theme.

I wanted to use the Happy Heart Day set, and the Tea Party patterned paper fit the bill for more non-traditional colors. I am a fan of pink and green, and I love this designer paper. In fact, you've got to see all the new papers in person because the catalog photos just do not show how beautiful they are. I didn't buy all of them <g> but you'll be seeing quite a few in the days to come. This is my first time using the Buttons die with the Big Shot. I love how crisp the image is when you back the designer paper with card stock.

Bringin' on the Birthday Bling

Ready to stamp something for a Birthday Challenge?  After two special celebrations in our house this week I couldn't imagine a better theme. I love bling, so I am happy to add this card to my stash. This is my first card made with the Sparkly Stained Glass technique, you'll find a great tutorial for the technique HERE. I wasn't sure at first if this image from Fun & Fast Notes would work, but it was not hard filling in the small spaces with Fine Cosmo glitter from Stampin' Up! I love the result!

The window cut in the Rose Red card stock was conveniently done with the Scallop Square punch. I punched and punched again to make a rectangle. When you discover this trick, it really adds quickly to your punching possibilities!
