I've been blogging now for 6 years and I can tell you I've hardly EVER used purples on my cards. I tend towards bright clean colors and reds. But today I followed my heart with this card and broke all of my pre-conceived notions about color.
I knew I wanted to use the colors of Pool Party, Crumb Cake and a splash of Elegant Eggplant. I loved how the flowers looked markered in Eggplant, so I went with that as my main color.
There are quite a few details that you can see better if you click to enlarge the photo. A border of embossing with the Framed Tulips Folder and a smattering of pearls add a dressy touch. I used my new Stampin Spritzer and mixed up my own shimmer spray to add a subtle sheen and glimmer.
Here's how: I poured about an inch of rubbing alcohol into the spritzer. (Just plain alcohol that I had on hand from the medicien cabinet.) I added a drop of Pool Party re-inker then poured in a small glob of Shimmer Paint (Frost White) and shook it all up.
When you look at the card close up you can see the shimmer adds a hint of pale aqua to the flowers and there's also a sprinkling of it on the card base too.
Hope you'll give this new tool and technique a try!

I love the Pool Party mat - so smart to cut it that way! It brings attention to all the right places! Gorgeous!

Oh, this is just GORGEOUS!! The shimmer is coming through loud and clear! Not too much, but your photo is a good one, so we can see it!! Now I have two favors to ask - can you tell me how you got the embossed tulips embossing on just top and bottom and not on the sides? Also, I have the hardest time working with the seam binding ribbon, but I love the look. Could you do a video of you tying this lovely double bow??
Hugs to you, my friend!

Well you should definitely use more purples. Beautiful card. I like the purple and pool party together.
