Thanks for coming to the blog hop! I hope you've been inspired by everyone's projects. I am amazed at the talent and creativity of this group. If you've been with us from the beginning you've seen the projects get better and better! You should have arrived here today from Amy Bollman's blog.
I want to show you my favorite project today, it is the second of my three dimensional designs. I found a decorative hook with a birdcage curving around the front that hangs flat against the wall and I couldn't wait to alter it.
I removed the collage printed on cardboard inside the cage, and spray painted the cage white. I didn't have to look very far for inspiration, it was my fav blue shirt. I often get inspiration from fashion trends or in this case, my own comfy clothes.
I love anything with butterflies on it, but oh my, butterflies and a bird's nest and white flowers with bling? I was on a roll.
Using the reverse masking technique I sponged rectangles on the card stock base, varying the intensity of the ink. I stamped flowers, embossed flowers, made paper flowers and added rhinstones and pearls to my heart's delight.
Here you see ribbon borders and die cut leaves,
and a bird ready to nest.
I was so involved with this project and loved pulling each detail together with a theme, beginning by asking myself, "If this were in my home, what would I USE it for? " The hook seemed perfect to hang my car keys on by the back door, with a reminder of my home sweet home on a tag with a tiny trinket key attached.
Now that you've heard the story and seen the details, here is the completed birdcage/key hanger.
I like this project so much that I purchased another unaltered cage to make it over again. Stampin' Up! keeps the original but I really need this pretty in my kitchen hallway! Hope you've enjoyed it.
On to Erica Cerwin's blog to see which of her marvelous creations she has ready for you today. See you tomorrow!
This is just awesome, Cindy! The colors are some of my favorites that we have.
