Did you spend a lovely day over the weekend at a backyard cookout? Or just relaxing outside? The Backyard Basics set seems a perfect fit for these last days of summer. We had a cookout and a birthday celebration yesterday!
I could have titled this post the Bird and the Bee. My friend Donna and I got together recently and we each featured a different image on our cards. It's fun creating together. The Backyard Basics set has fabulous coordinating Framelits to die cut the images. We also dipped into my new pack of Sweater Weather DSP. I love the plaids and subtle textures my friend used on her card. She didn't mind me sharing it with you, so here you go!
Isn't it lovely draped in soft colors and the natural cotton ribbon?
I went for a bold look using Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla and Basic Black.
Do you have the Squares Framelits yet? I used the small square to cut the middle out of the polaroid frame. I know that I could do this with a cutter, but the Framelits make it so easy to center the square window and cut it out crisply. I used the smaller square to cut the black frame and layered it behind.
I loved the effect of embossing Card Stock Vellum with the Honeycomb folder. Crystal Effects were added to the bee's body to add a rounded shape and shine. And how about the sentiment of Just Because! I could have written it Just BEEcause for this card.
I'm looking forward to an early day of crafting tomorrow! Hope to see you too...
