Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop! We are excited to bring you the By the Tide Edition. I am especially pleased about using this set. I've never inked it up yet, so that's nice but the link to my name, Cindy BEACH is fun!
I will be playing with watercolor techniques all this week, and offering my own tutorial soon, so keep checking back! I decided it was time for me to try the salted background technique. I began by using watercolor paper and brushing on layers of color. Sprinkle salt on it and let it dry. Really ?
Yes! When the salt is rubbed off, you get this great spotty texture and rich color. Perfect for a beach scene, I think.
I used Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, and Coastal Cabana inks, and set the background panel inside a circular window.
Choosing the embelllishments was easy. I wanted to combine as many natural elements as I could and included burlap, a wooden element that's stamped with the anchor image, twine and a pearl. I was delighted to think of the pearl. I added a few brushstrokes of Crisp Cantaloupe to the stamped images and pulled in that color with the snippet of ruffled ribbon.
I know you'll be amazed at the ideas and creativity you'll find on the rest of the hop.
Be yourself.

Cindy, this is just gorgeous! I haven't heard of this technique...I hope you will make a tutorial. Do you use regular table salt or epsom salts? I wonder if the salt becomes the color of the ink, and if so, I can see that in a beautiful jar with some shells, and of course this gorgeous card hanging up in a beautiful frame in the bath room! Oh, the ideas! Thanks for the inspiration!
