Hello! How has the week gone by so quickly? Hope it's been a good one for you!
As you read this I'm hoping I'll have painters here at our house. Before we moved in (the BIG move was last April) they painted the walls in a rush the day before the move. Now we are getting the trim painted too. After we got the house prepped for them this afternoon I had some happy time in the craft room.
I had some color play fun for the challenge at PTI Make It Monday. Melissa Phillips gave a fabulous tutorial showing how to use die cut shapes as stencils to create beautiful backgrounds.
I die cut the cluster of leaves from the Stylized Autumn set using white card stock. My base is watercolor paper. Laying the die cut over that I sponged around it with Distress Inks. I added some stamped leaves, a light spritzing with water and a few ink spatters.
I embossed the sentiment in white and sponged the white card stock with ink to match.
After all that sponging, my die cut was no longer white and I decided to add it just as is to the focal point. I like the variation in colors as it was heavily sponged!
I love bright colors for fall, don't you?
Although I've used this technique before, I really enjoyed trying it again. At first I didn't want to cover the whole panel but I found this die looked much better on a large surface. I also experimented with colors and opted for the soft effect of the green. I've always learned so much from participating in challenges. Sometimes it's really good to try things again with a different twist or new supplies. I always learn something in the process.
Hope you've enjoyed your visit today!
