A Million Ways to say it - Happy Birthday

Hello everyone, how are things going for you! 

It's been a great week for me, I can't believe it is Wednesday already! We're going out in the boat for some time on the lake this evening. And yesterday I got to stamp with one of my dearest friends. 

Here's the card all finished to share with you! Following the sample on Make It Monday to use sentiment stamps as a background, I made a birthday card with bunches of birthday wishes. 

I grabbed as many sentiments as I could find and lined them up on my mini Misti to stamp. I only wish I had made multiples of this background, but oh well. The flower, leaf, and vellum leaves are from the Stylized Autumn stamps and dies.

Adding Nuvo drops in clear to the flower center added some texture. 

Except for the twine, all stamps, paper and ink are from Papertrey Ink.

Hello with Vintage Roses

Blissful Birds

The first day of May is here, the peonies have bloomed and I've got a birthday card to share today. Just a few of my favorite things and I'm using the Tweet Birds stamps from My Favorite Things stamps!

Masking, I sponged Broken China, Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon Distress inks across white card stock, distressing it further with water splatters. 

The floral images are from the Blissful Blooms stamps. The images were die cut, stamped, and colored with Copics. I arranged them around the die cut from Die-Namics Cheerful Cages Dies.

I added shimmer with the Wink of Stella pen on the two birds and two pink flowers. A few white dots with the gel pen and of course sequins complete the card.

Made this for the My Favorite Things Weekly Sketch Challenge 330 which always inspires me!

Pastel Petals with Spring Flowers

Hello and welcome back! 

I'm sharing my second card with the Simon Says Stamp Spring Flowers set today. If you missed the first one using bright bold colors, you can find it HERE. 

I've decided I need to give some love to stamps that have been little used by creating a couple of cards at a time to explore their possibilities.  Today's card is soft with pastel colors, an inked background, and a POP of black accents.

I used Distress inks for the background, and Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers for coloring the images onto white card stock.

I've loved experimenting with those markers, and the amazing artist Nina-Marie Trapani has fabulous videos that have helped me. Here's the link to her video where she shares this coloring technique. You will want to try it, it's really not hard and gives a light airy look to the colors. 

The butterfly die (Bitty Butterflies Cover Plate)  and the sentiment (Banner Sentiments) are from Papertrey Ink. The sentiment was embossed in white on black card stock. Nuvo drops added small black accents to the focal point.

Spring Flowers in my garden

Hello everyone! 

I've been stamping as the last few days have been raining. Too wet to work in the garden but I'm still dreaming of flowers. I pulled out the Simon Says Stamps set called Spring Flowers and I would like to focus on three cards I've made with it for the next three posts. I've been delighted to really work on getting different looks depending on how I color the flowers. I hope you will come back to see all three.

For today, the blooms are brightly colored with Distresss inks onto white card stock using the emboss resist technique. 

Brights are usually my first choice, love love love them! I fussy cut out the images and slathered them with Wink of Stella. Love that shimmer too!

You're A Big Deal! Birthday card for Fab Friday

Hey there! I hope you are all doing well, crafty friends!

I'm squeaking in with a card today for the Fab Friday challenge. I fell in love with yet ANOTHER set of cute critters and go-withs, this cutie-bear ballerina is from the Big Deal set from W Plus 9.

 I've been missing my coloring time, but I pulled out the Zigs markers last night and went to town. I thought the pink was a pretty accent color for the bear, and I added Golden Harvest ink from Papertrey Ink for the rays. The papers are by Doodlebugs from my stash. 

The darling sketch is our challenge for this week at Fab Friday!

That is all from me today! I have to tell you that I have been feeling much better and walking WELL again, so we had a wonderful impromptu week at the beach. We basically saw that the weather would be sunny and warm for four days, and off we went! Back at home now, it is really a Fab Friday for me. Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!

My Very Own Petunias

My Very Own Petunias

Or I could write the subtitle, Have you ever seen petunias like this?

Well, not exactly, you might answer.That's OK, because I made these petunias just the way I wanted them and enjoyed the process and the result. (BIG smile here)

I began with the new W Plus 9 set called Modern Petunias. The images are line drawings so that you can color them with the medium of your choice. I used Zig Clean Color Brush Markers on watercolor paper. I cut the flowers and leaves out with the coordinating dies and took some time to arrange them around the Anastasia Tag Die also from W Plus 9 cut from gold foil. 

I LOVE this die! I embossed the oval piece in the center with a basket weave folder to add a bit of texture, and added ribbon at the top. 

The flowers became totally my own - call it unique or a blooper - when I added dots with the white gel pen, and gold dots to the peach flowers. 

The sentiment is also from W Plus 9, Handlettered Hello set.

Quilted Summer for Fab Friday Color Challenge

 Hey, hey! It's F-ri-i-day! I had summer on my mind today, and I whipped up a flowery quilt. Out of paper, of course. 

 The color challenge at Fab Friday this week is fun and reminds me of sunshine and flowers!

I admit I got a little carried away with the quilt theme, once I'd decided to use the Quilted Summer set from Papertrey Ink. Another one of my sets I've not used yet - or at least I don't remember using this one. The photo below gives the truest hues of the colors. 

If you click to enlarge the photos you may see the deeply embossed stitched squares on the white background panel. 

I made it look like patterned paper by stamping the small pinwheel image in So Saffron on each square. It does remind me of a homey fluffy comforter. Continuing with the sewing theme, I added a clear button and gold thread for embellishments to the popped up floral spray.

Time to Celebrate!

I'm always wanting to add to my stash of birthday cards, especially when a new year comes around. 

The Make It Monday challenge was to make a spinner card! I've made them before but it's always fun to put a new twist on a birthday card by adding an inter-active element. You can see a great video from Lizzie HERE showing the how-to's of this technique. 

 

I used the Just Desserts and Banner Greetings sets from PTI To make this festive card. Almost looks sweet enough to eat, right? The dots are glittered Nuvo drops from Tonic. I wish the sparkle showed up in the photo as it does IRL. I am really enjoying having a few colors of those.

Winter Birthday Wishes

A Beary Special Someone

Hi to all my crafty friends!

I know it is Saturday but I just had to pop in to show you something I made for my super special grandson. He will be having his first birthday soon, and I've got a card ready for him. 

Having a chance to craft today was fun. We've got a tiny bit of snow on the ground so I felt like hibernating. And pulling out my watercolors and brushes made the time pass so quickly!

The bears and sentiment were stamped on watercolor paper and colored with my Peerless watercolors. I kept it simple. Added a bit of sparkle to the balloons and hearts with the Wink of Stella pen that is always out on my craft table these days.

Birthday Blessings

Hello! Hope everyone had a fabulous celebration of Christmas and a good Boxer Day today. 

Our Christmas day was filled with family fun, food and relaxation. Today is more quiet and I found time to make a card for the PTI Blog Hop. Now I'm rushing to get my blog post in before the deadline. 

The inspiration photo this month was full of wonderful colors and there were so many options to chose from for creating. I loved the pinks, yellow and aqua and decided on a floral themed birthday card. 

You will have to excuse my photo as it is almost getting dark now. I hope to get a better one in the morning and update the post.
