A Second Take for Tag You're It!

Hi everyone! 

Have you been enjoying these summer days? I have been outside and on the go this week. It's a good thing I have some challenges going to keep me crafting! I've loved being Guest Designer for the Tag You're It! challenge and I'm back to share my second take on the tag being featured. There is still time for you to play and join us. I hope you will. 

I took a more literal inspiration this time from Anja's Beautiful design. (For my first tag, click HERE)

I kept the color scheme, using blue and green and kept the long delicate die cut on the left.  Since I love her white embossed butterfly on vellum, I embossed the flower image on vellum, colored from behind with markers and placed a blue card stock behind it. And of course, a butterfly and a pop of bling, finished it off. 

I love playing at Tag You're It! and I've loved the opportunity to be a guest designer.

Sunshine and Smiles

Hello, everyone, and welcome back! Or should I say thanks for hanging around until I came back from my long hiatus due to our recent home move. 

All is very good, we are loving our new location and my craft room is back in operation again. Having newly purged and organized all my stamps sure makes it inviting to sit down and make a card. 

Which I did, here it is. 

Our new home has sweet pink peonies planted in the garden that have bloomed prolifically this week. They were the inspiration for this card stamped with the Sunshine and Smiles set from Clearly Besotted. 

I heat embossed the hollyhocks in white, adding layers of color with Distress markers and a brush. I cut the flourish in vellum and white card stock and layered them together with a pearl to cover the glue dot. 

I haven't used pearls in ages, and they added just the bit of elegance the card needed. Making a card again, getting into my watercolors, ahh... was just the therapy I needed. 

Thanks to you who have kept checking back in my absence or told me that you've missed me. I'm happy to be blogging again and I sure appreciate you!

Simple Silhouettes Feel Better

Hello everyone, hope you are off to a good start with your day. How is it going for you?

I'm thinking of someone going through some rough times with her health and made this card for her. She loves flowers and has a beautiful garden so I chose the Simple Silhouettes stamps from Clearly Besotted and dies. 

I colored the images with Distress Markers and used the English Brick Wall stencil from MFT for the backdrop. I wanted to get in just a teeny bit of watercoloring, so I chose to color with my Sakura Koi watercolors for the vase. 

I have a story to tell about the vase. As I was coloring and going for the softly marbled look, it began to resemble a favorite vase of mine. It was a teacher gift I got 40 years ago from one of my students and I still use it often! Helen's mother had taken a ceramics class and made it for me. 

Just a reminder that the things we make are unlike anything else. When we give them to others, it is giving a part of ourselves.

In Color Thanks for Fab Friday

 I'm so happy that it's time for another challenge at Fab Friday! 

 I really enjoyed making my card with the Simon Says Stamp Big Scripty Greetings and Artful Flowers sets for today's challenge.

  I am absolutely loving the new In Colors from Stampin' Up! that we are to incorporate into our designs. I stamped the leaves in Cucumber Crush directly onto Tip Top Taupe card stock. It makes a fabulous neutral!  

The panel is layered onto white craft foam to add dimension. I'm finding that detail makes a big difference to the overall appearance of my card, plus, it holds up much better in the mail.

 

Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron and Delightful Dijon are all represented in my card stock elements. 

I started out thinking I'd only use my favorites in the card but ended up using them all.

I know I will be WILD about using the wonderful zingy red of Watermelon Wonder with Cucumber Crush for Christmas cards. They look fabulous together! Did you guess I like them best?

 I embossed the sentiment and the butterfly in white. The white dots were added with a gel pen. I'm adding this card to the MFT Summer School Challenge "Balance: Quiet Space /White Space."
