TGF Butterflies!

Hi and Happy Friday! 

Yes, it's TGIF or Thank God for butterflies  and it's also Fab Friday! 

We have a cute sketch this week and I began by culling through my patterned paper pads. Since my big purge with our recent move, I only have the DSP packs that are card size, so I am not so overwhelmed when I go to choose paper. This one is Simple Stories. 

I began by cutting one piece to 4" x 5-1/4" to cover the card base. Next, I die cut the piece for my panel, matching it to the design on the paper and layering it on top. I added some banner strips behind it in keeping with the sketch. I used the Hugs die from Lawn Fawn and the Butterfly Cover Plate from Papertrey Ink. I cut out one of the three butterflies and sponged it with Distress Inks. The sequin trim is  from Stampin' Up! and I pulled out the threads for antennae.

So, there you have it, a quick card with no stamping. Here's the sketch and I hope you'll play along at the Fab Friday Challenge. We love to see what you make!

 You know I love trying new techniques, right? I love that about stamping - there is always something new to learn, a new twist at looking at things. That's what I found this week at the PTI Make It Monday challenge. Using different combinations of smaller images and sentiments to create a focal point on your card. 

I loved using the quilted triangle stamps and flower to surround the sentiment for the sunny card below. 

 Below is my first attempt. I was thinking it was TOO simple but I decided since it was part of the learning process I would show you this one too. I combined sentiments from two sets, lining them up and adding leafy images on the side.

 

I just had to give this a try. Some things look easy until you try them, lol! I hope you'll give this a go too. Once you choose the stamps to use, it would be very easy to mass produce a set of cards quickly.

Take Three - SSS August Card Kit

 The advantage of card kits is that you can make lots of cards in a short amount of time. That's what I've done. Here is take 3 of the Simon Says Stamp Card Kit.  I have one more card to share later. Now I can feel as if I've used this one up and that makes me happy. Summer is almost over and I'm wearing my flip flops. 

Tell you a secret? I wear sandals until mid-December and get them out again in late February. Now THAT's a flip flop season! Hope you're having a great day!

Life's a beach!

Since my name is...Cindy BEACH I've always liked the saying "life's a beach" so it's no wonder I'm having a blast creating with the Simon Says Stamp August Card Kit. 

I found the DSP describing the beach irresistible and thought it would be cool to use another paper like a sign pointing to the beach. This way to fun!

No stamping here, just a collection of elements that makes me think of summer on this day of glorious sunshine and cooler weather we're having in the south. 

Since I'm feeling kind of punchy this morning, have you ever heard my joke about my name?  Since I gained my last name through marriage, here goes: Thank goodness my mother didn't name me Sandy.

Fab Friday 59

 Hi friends, it's time for Fab Friday! 

I was stumped with these colors at first, so I started pulling out patterned paper to get a feel for them and hopefully get an idea. I knew my idea would include lots of white and just a teeny bit of Blushing Bride.

 

See it there in that fourth strip with the white chevrons? That's the Blushing Bride.

It was fun putting this together. I die cut the banners, and then adhered them to a white card stock panel about 2" X 3-1/2". It is popped up on dimensionals with the large flower tucked behind it, and the smaller one popped on top.

To add just a bit of Hello Honey ink, I dipped the wooden ends of my paintbrushes in the ink pad and added spots.

Happy Valentine's Day

I've had another busy week outside of the craft room but I'm back with just one more Valentine. No stamping anywhere. It's funny how I can get the whole card made before I realize that! 

I wanted to use the card Kit for February from Simon Says Stamp one more time. I like to think I've used up the contents of the kit by making at least a few cards with it. And since the big  <3 day is Saturday I'm just in time! 

I used rub-ons for the sentiment, the x's and o's on the jar clip and the small black hearts. The clip was made to look more like a jar with a coating of Glossy Accents for a glassy shine. The other hearts were die cut from Crisp Cantaloupe card stock.  I think it looks delicious with the patterned paper, don't you? 

I'm getting this in on the last minute with the challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch. LOVE the inspiration over there!

Creation Station Blog Hop: Seasonally Scattered

   

Hi and welcome to the Creation Station Blog Hop!  You'll see projects using the Seasonally Scattered stamp set, and from others on the hop, gift cards.  

 The stamp set is perfect for a variety of occasions. The Love sentiment was best fitted for the technique I used for my heart-shaped card. 

 

I began with two white hearts cut from the Hearts Framelits Die for the front and the back of the card. 

Next I layererd half inch strips cut from Strawberry Slush, Real Red, Calypso Coral, and Melon Mambo card stock onto a white piece of scrap paper. I die cut the heart shape and trimmed the scrap paper along the top and bottom edges of the strips.  

Stamping and embossing the sentiment in white makes it stand out well with ombre colors behind. So fun! I like that it's a really different technique but it lets the stamping take center stage.

The Little Birdie from Hello Love

Hi everyone! Read to the end of this post for a bit of happy news.....

I'm trying out a new challenge today, at CAS(E) this sketch where they encourage a clean and simple  or one layer card. 

I really love the CAS style, and want to work at getting better with it. Isn't this a fun sketch? In the card sample there were cutouts at the side, so I went with that idea. All of the images were cut out by hand, except for the punched circles.

 The Hello Love Hostess set has these cute little birdies. I popped one up on the inside of the card. 

Which brings me to a very special part of this post. What's the news?  Our daughter and her husband are expecting a baby. That's so very exciting as it will be our first grandchild! So now the litte birdie has told you the very happy announcement. 

And on the home front, I am up bright and early (its' still dark outside) since the home repair crew arrives today to begin the remodel. Ending this post now so that they don't find me in my pj's at the computer when they get here..... Have a great creative day! I would love to hear from you.

As the Leaves Settle - Fall reflections....

I was rather surprised to check my blog today and realize that it has needed my care for three days since I missed the Stamp Review Blog Hop. You may be wondering why I've gone missing, and I've been thinking about that too. You are my dear blog readers and friends, so I thought I might do some reflecting on what's going on with me - with you. 

I find that I've been pushing myself in lots of areas in my life, and it's been a good time to step back and evaluate a bit. That has involved listening to myself and knowing when I just flat out needed to take it a bit easier on me because of other things going on. In case you're wondering what's been going on (admit it I KNOW you want to know!) our family has been busier than ever with coming and goings these days. Add to that some major overhauls in our house. Yep. Re-models are coming. A great thing involving lots of upheaval. Many choices. Going to choose...tiles, light fixtures, paint colors and don't forget to pick out the kitchen sink. 

Maybe I should have titled this post "As the Dust Settles."

When I don't blog I don't stamp. When I don't stamp, I forget how. Well, let's just say it's like pulling teeth to crank out a card. I've always found that making a card or project every day keeps the MOJO going!

Now that you know where I've been, here's where I'm going. I have looked at WAY too many blogs but I have  compiled a list of challenges. I'm going to pick a challenge a day for the next week and make a card a day.

That also means a blog post everyday. 

I will have the fun of creating with whatever I want. Meaning, I will stay exclusively Stampin Up! of course, but I will not only focus on creations from the Holiday Catalog. Sometimes I get stuck in the rut of what other people have done.

As I've done today, I'll try to share a story or two once in awhile. If you want to skip down to where the card is, that's fine with me!  In Weight Watchers, which I attend regularly, we've talked about setting the re-set button. Getting back to the basics. Consider it done here today on my blog. And as always, thanks for listening, visiting, keeping on coming back and encouraging me with your words and creations.

Last week I had a stamp camp and one of my reminders to the ladies was to let their Designer Paper work for them, to make the most of it! The Nordic Noel pack has some fabulous images to use on a card - just cut them out and layer them on a tag. 

Can it get any easier than that? Those gift packages were really fun to pile up and layer. The MOJO MONDAY sketch provided the inspiration for today's card.

Creating with Holiday Home

Isn't there something so wonderful when an item that's versatile also has a TON of accessories to give it different looks?  I'm not talking about the latest fashion item. Of course I'm referring to stamps! Specifically, the Holiday Home 24 piece stamp set. 

Three house images and fun to play with holiday add-ons. I don't celebrate Halloween, but I love the pumpkin. Could.not.resist. Adding the jack o'lantern smiley face was so much fun! 

Here's my thanksgiving themed card. 

Inside I'll write something about happy Thanksgiving wishes across the miles.
