Floral Thanks for Fab Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! 

I've had a most special day with Mr B as we celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary with time on the lake this morning and a lovely dinner out. Isn't that sweet? (YES, I'll tell you, it is. He's the best!) 

I also found time to make up a sweet floral thank you card for Fab Friday. Have a look.

Now you may have discovered that our challenge is to use the new Stampin' Up! In Colors.

I don't happen to have those new colors, but I decided to choose inks and papers as closely matched as I could from what is in my stash and give it a try! I think even if you have all those colors using them all makes this challenge a tough one.

I love the Powder Pink and Berry Burst - I think we can never have enough pinks especially if they are clean and bright. But my favorite is Lemon Lime Twist and I knew right away that it was a close match with one of my favorite Distress Inks, Twisted Citron.

Pinks and lime green were my focus as I stamped a floral background onto white card stock. I did some second generation stamping to get a variation of color intensity. I die cut the scalloped edge of the white card stock and again with deep burgundy card stock, placing the dark red letters into the negative space of the white piece.

I layered the die cut panel over a piece of white card stock that I sponged lightly with Distress Inks and spattered with water and deeper pink. I will list my supplies in detail below.

Coloring Doodle Buds with Zig Markers

Hello, crafty friends!

How has your week been going? We did some traveling last week but it's always good to be back home. Hope your summer is going well. 

I love the funky flowers in the Doodle Buds stamps from W Plus 9. I colored them using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, and blended with a water brush for for a bright summery card. I love the sentiments that come with this set. 

I added happy colors and used the white gel pen to draw details on the flowers. I love that little squiggly image and added it in black to add some weight to balance the bottom of the card. Maybe it's grass, lol?

Matching dies made it easy to cut and arrange my bouquet.

Awesome Day

 Hello, my stamping friends! 

It's time for another new challenge at Fab Friday to use Dapper Denim, Calypso Coral and Rich Razzleberry for your project.

I have to tell you that I like sketch challenges much better than color combos which I sometimes find to be well, uh, difficult. Ahem, a challenge. These colors threw me for a loop, so I did what so often happens with me and colors - I went for it boldly!



I guess what surprised me most was how dark the stamped images were with the Coral. I do LOVE these funky flowers and how the Denim worked as an accent color. The word awesome is die cut and popped up. WPlus 9 dies leave only a very slight border and they are a breeze to line up with the stamped image. 

Can't wait to see what the others on the DT came up with!

Big Deal - You're the Best

 I hope you're having a great day so far! 

Here's one more card using the Big Deal set from Wplus9 and the MFT Blueprints 27 set of dies for the pretty frame and scallop-edged panel.

For the frame and panel underneath, I sponged Distress Inks using Cracked Pistachio and Broken China. 

 

I can imagine making so many adorable scenes with the circus themed animals in this set. I colored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, then die cut them. Details were added with a white gel pen and Nuvo drops in white gloss, used on the star centers and for the panda's eyes.

The sentiment and die are from Simon Says Stamp.

Pretty Dancer with Big Deal

Hello, friends. Aren't you glad it's Friday? 

 I love the versatility of the Big Deal set from WPlus9. I couldn't wait to use the dancing bear to make a sweet girly card. All dressed in pink. My favorite "pink" quote is from Audrey Hepburn who said, "I believe in pink," adding, "happy girls are the prettiest girls."

The cutie-patootie is colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. 

Again, I used the set of dies Blueprints 27 from My Favorite Things. This time turning the frame horizontally for a different layout. 

I sponged the panel behind the frame using Distress Ink, in Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Scattered Straw.  IRL the pinks of ink and paper blend and coordinate a bit more subtly than the photo shows.

You're A Big Deal! Birthday card for Fab Friday

Hey there! I hope you are all doing well, crafty friends!

I'm squeaking in with a card today for the Fab Friday challenge. I fell in love with yet ANOTHER set of cute critters and go-withs, this cutie-bear ballerina is from the Big Deal set from W Plus 9.

 I've been missing my coloring time, but I pulled out the Zigs markers last night and went to town. I thought the pink was a pretty accent color for the bear, and I added Golden Harvest ink from Papertrey Ink for the rays. The papers are by Doodlebugs from my stash. 

The darling sketch is our challenge for this week at Fab Friday!

That is all from me today! I have to tell you that I have been feeling much better and walking WELL again, so we had a wonderful impromptu week at the beach. We basically saw that the weather would be sunny and warm for four days, and off we went! Back at home now, it is really a Fab Friday for me. Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!

My Very Own Petunias

My Very Own Petunias

Or I could write the subtitle, Have you ever seen petunias like this?

Well, not exactly, you might answer.That's OK, because I made these petunias just the way I wanted them and enjoyed the process and the result. (BIG smile here)

I began with the new W Plus 9 set called Modern Petunias. The images are line drawings so that you can color them with the medium of your choice. I used Zig Clean Color Brush Markers on watercolor paper. I cut the flowers and leaves out with the coordinating dies and took some time to arrange them around the Anastasia Tag Die also from W Plus 9 cut from gold foil. 

I LOVE this die! I embossed the oval piece in the center with a basket weave folder to add a bit of texture, and added ribbon at the top. 

The flowers became totally my own - call it unique or a blooper - when I added dots with the white gel pen, and gold dots to the peach flowers. 

The sentiment is also from W Plus 9, Handlettered Hello set.

Sending LOVE for Fab Friday

 Hello, and welcome to our first Fab Friday challenge in February!

I had a bit of time to do some blog hopping this week, and I was inspired to try my hand with the darling dog from the Friends for All Seasons: Summer set by WPlus9. I think he is just the cutest with his pudgy belly and poker face.

I have been practicing coloring a few of these cute critters with Copic markers and felt ready to add one to a card. The background was sponged on white card stock with Ranger Distress Inks in Worn Lipstick, Tattered Rose, Scattered Straw and Fossilized Amber. Keeping light pressure helped me achieve the airy look I was going for with these colors. 

I added a few different sized hearts stamped onto the background and spritzed to add shimmer. After Copic coloring the balloons, a quick whisk of Wink of Stella made them sparkle. 

Gotta have that sparkle, right?

Hello to my dear crafting friends. 

I don't blame you for wondering if I've dropped off the edge of the earth. Nothing drastic has happened and I am quite well. Just not finding time in my days to stamp lately. Being a stranger to my own blog is not a feeling that I enjoy. It seems even weirder being less often in my beautiful craft room. But I digress. 

I really do have a card to share with you today using the Feathers & Florals stamps from WPlus9.

Here's the challenge for this week at Fab Friday. 

I thought these colors would have been perfect for a snowflake-themed card, but only if using White for the neutral instead of Very Vanilla. So I went with my default choice of flowers and picked my pretty new set to play with. 

I sponged the color onto the stamps in order to vary the intensity of the hue. Adding interest and texture, I  did some random stamping of the flower center image on the card base. Of course those leaves got a wink of sparkle and a few pearls embellished the flower centers.

Still Time to Be Merry

This happens every year. I never have enough time to use all the Christmas stamp sets that I love, old and new! And then before you know it, the holidays are over. 

I still had some time to play the other day, and I took out the WPlu9 Be Merry set to use again, this time adding images from the Be Merry Florals set.

I really love the florals in this set and the pretty banner. I die cut duplicates of each die, stamped them in the colors I'd chosen, and then used the pieces to figure out my placement for the arrangement. In the end I did more stamping directly to the card front and just popped up the die cuts of the banner and 4 flowers. Plus the holly leaf. 

Of course it needed some sparkle with Wink of Stella and the color added to the banner was with Copics. 

I look forward to using this set again. I don't think you can ever go wrong with great florals! Don't be surprised if I come up with a few more Christmas cards before too long.
